The necessary procedure to live in Japan
Today, many foreigners live, work and go to school in Japan. Probably, many other foreigners want to live in Japan in the future.
They need to fall under into one of 27 sorts of eligibility prescribed by the Immigration-Control and Refugee-Recognition Act.
The 27 sorts of eligibility are classified into the following 3 groups approximately.
- People who can work freely, for example, “Permanent Resident”, “Spouse or Child of Permanent Resident”.
- People who can work in the range allowed by Regional Immigration Bureau, for example, “Artist”, “Engineer”, and “Specialist in Humanities/International service”.
- People who can’t work in principle, for example, “College Student” and “Dependent”.
The necessary papers for the certificate of eligibility
You must submit the application for the certificate of eligibility to Regional Immigration Bureau, Ministry of Justice. You are also asked for the following papers besides the application for the certificate of eligibility, your passport and photo.
- in case of a working visa, an employment contract and a certificate of the registration of the company for example.
- in case of a student visa, the entrance admission and Letter of Guarantee, for example.
Regional Immigration Bureau issue the certificate of eligibility through the synthetic examination of these papers. You are asked to attach these many certificates of the contents in the application form for the acceptance.
